Michael Mann Biography
Michael Kenneth Mann is an American film director, screenwriter, author, and producer. Born on February 5, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, Mann is best known for his stylized crime dramas. Throughout his career, he has received numerous accolades, including a BAFTA Award and two Primetime Emmy Awards. He has also been nominated for four Academy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. Some of his most acclaimed works include Thief (1981), Manhunter (1986), Heat (1995), and The Insider (1999). Additionally, Mann served as the executive producer of the popular TV series Miami Vice (1984–89) and later adapted it into a feature film in 2006. He is a graduate of Amundsen High School and the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he studied English literature.
