Michael Praed, born on April 1, 1960, is a British actor and narrator. He gained recognition for his portrayal of Robin of Loxley in the British television series Robin of Sherwood, which achieved cult status in the 1980s. Praed was born in Berkeley, Gloucestershire and attended Eastbourne College before pursuing a career in acting. Due to a name conflict with another actor, he adopted the stage name Michael Praed, derived from a randomly chosen surname in a telephone book. In addition to his iconic role as Robin Hood, Praed is known for his performances as Prince Michael of Moldavia in Dynasty and Phileas Fogg in The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne. He has also made a name for himself in stage musicals and dramas and has recently become recognized for his narrations on BBC TV's history program.
