    Michael Wayne Rosen (born May 7, 1946) is a British children's author, poet, presenter, political columnist, broadcaster, and activist. He has written 140 books and served as Children's Laureate from 2007 to 2009. Rosen won the 2023 PEN Pinter Prize for his 'fearless' body of work. Born into a Jewish family in Harrow, Middlesex, his ancestors hailed from Poland, Romania, and Russia. His father, Harold Rosen, was an educationalist who grew up in the East End of London. Michael's middle name, Wayne, was given in honor of literary critic Wayne C. Booth, who stayed with his father at Shrivenham American University.
