Michael Shanks

Michael Garrett Shanks is a Canadian actor best known for his role as Daniel Jackson in the long-running TV series Stargate SG-1 and as Charles Harris in Saving Hope. Born on December 15, 1970, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Shanks grew up in Kamloops. He attended the University of British Columbia's fine arts program and later served a two-year apprenticeship at the Stratford Festival in Ontario. Shanks began his television career with guest appearances on shows like Highlander and The Commish. His breakthrough came with his role as Daniel Jackson in Stargate SG-1. He has also appeared in low budget genre work filmed in Canada. In addition to his TV work, Shanks has appeared in stage productions and TV movies.
