Michael Corbett Shannon is an American actor born on August 7, 1974. He is best known for his frequent collaborations with director Jeff Nichols, appearing in films such as Shotgun Stories (2007), Take Shelter (2011), Mud (2012), Midnight Special, and Loving (both 2016). Shannon has received two Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor for his roles in Revolutionary Road (2008) and Nocturnal Animals (2016). He has also been nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Golden Globe Award for his performance in 99 Homes (2014). Shannon made his film debut in Groundhog Day (1993) and has since appeared in various notable films including The Shape of Water (2017), Knives Out (2019), and the DC Extended Universe films Man of Steel (2013) and The Flash (2023).
