Michael Corbett Shannon is an American actor known for his collaborations with director Jeff Nichols. He has appeared in films such as Shotgun Stories, Take Shelter, Mud, Midnight Special, and Loving. Shannon has received two Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor for his roles in Revolutionary Road and Nocturnal Animals. He has also been nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Golden Globe Award for his role in 99 Homes. Shannon's filmography includes Groundhog Day, 8 Mile, Bad Boys II, Before the Devil Knows You're Dead, The Iceman, Premium Rush, The Night Before, Elvis & Nixon, The Shape of Water, Knives Out, Bullet Train, and Amsterdam. He played General Zod in the DC Extended Universe films Man of Steel and The Flash. Shannon made his Broadway debut in the play Grace.
