Michael Showalter Biography
Michael Showalter (born June 17, 1970) is an American comedian, actor, director, writer, and producer. He gained recognition as a cast member on MTV's The State from 1993 to 1995. Showalter is best known for co-creating and starring in the Wet Hot American Summer franchise, including the 2001 film and the Netflix series. He wrote, directed, and starred in The Baxter (2005) alongside Michelle Williams, Justin Theroux, and Elizabeth Banks. Showalter collaborated with his co-stars from The State in these projects. Additionally, he is a co-creator, co-producer, actor, and writer for the TV series Search Party. Showalter directed the critically acclaimed film The Big Sick in 2017. He was born in Princeton, New Jersey, to Elaine and English Showalter, both accomplished professors in literature.
