Michael Alan Spiller (born August 1, 1961) is an American cinematographer and television director. He gained recognition for his work as a cinematographer in Hal Hartley's indie film The Unbelievable Truth. Spiller also served as director of photography on the HBO series Sex and the City during its first four seasons. He has directed episodes of various television shows such as Scrubs, Jake in Progress, The Bernie Mac Show, and Big Love. In 2011, he received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for his work on the Modern Family episode 'Halloween'. Spiller was born in New Jersey and raised in Brooklyn.
