Michelle Zauner

Michelle Zauner, born on March 29, 1989, is an American musician and author. She is best known as the lead vocalist of the alternative pop band Japanese Breakfast. Zauner gained recognition for her memoir, Crying in H Mart, which was published in 2021 and spent 60 weeks on The New York Times hardcover non-fiction bestseller list. In 2022, she was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine under the category of Innovators. Raised in Eugene, Oregon, Zauner began her music career at the age of 15. She released her debut album, Psychopomp, as Japanese Breakfast in 2016, which explored themes of grief and her mother's illness.
