Michi Kobi (2 November 1924 – 1 March 2016) was an American actress born as Machiko Kobinata Okamoto in Sacramento, California. Her father, Rikikazu Okamoto, was a doctor who immigrated to America in 1902. During World War II, Kobi and her mother were sent to Tanforan Assembly Center and then Topaz War Relocation Center. After the war, she moved to New York City to pursue an acting career. Kobi studied acting at New York University and worked as a model, secretary, and translator. She was known for her outspokenness regarding the conditions in the internment camps and campaigned for an apology. Kobi appeared in various stage, screen, and television roles throughout her career.
