Mick Betancourt (born April 13, 1974) is an American screenwriter, producer, comedian, actor, and director. He is best known for his work as a screenwriter, having written scripts for popular television series on major networks such as Chicago Fire, The Mob Doctor, Chicago P.D., and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Betancourt was born in Chicago to a Puerto Rican father and an Irish mother. He graduated from Fenwick High School in 1992 and currently resides in Los Angeles. He sold his first television series to CBS at the age of 30 and has since written for shows including Breakout Kings, The Black Donnellys, and Detroit 187. Betancourt has also made a name for himself as a comedian, performing at the Chicago and Montreal Comedy Festivals and appearing on NBC, HBO, TBS, and Comedy Central. In addition, he directed the well-received short film No Place Like Home in 2008, which garnered attention at independent film festivals. Betancourt's talent and versatility have established him as a notable figure in the entertainment industry.
