Mikael Persbrandt Biography
Mikael Åke Persbrandt (born September 25, 1963) is a Swedish actor known for his roles in both Swedish and international films. He gained prominence in Swedish cinema through his portrayal of Gunvald Larsson in the Beck series of movies. Internationally, he is recognized for his leading role in the Academy Award-winning film, In a Better World, directed by Susanne Bier. This performance earned him a nomination for Best Actor at the 2011 European Film Awards. Persbrandt has also portrayed Carl Hamilton in film adaptations of Jan Guillou's novels, and played Beorn in The Hobbit. He appeared as Jakob Nyman in the popular British TV series, Sex Education.
