Mike Mills
Mike Mills, born Michael Edward Mills on December 17, 1958, is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer, and composer. He is best known as a founding member of the alternative rock band R.E.M., where he played bass guitar and provided backing vocals. Mills also showcased his talent on keyboards and occasional lead vocals. Born in Orange County, California, Mills moved to Macon, Georgia at a young age. It was in Macon that he met future R.E.M. bandmate Bill Berry while attending high school. Mills attended the University of Georgia in Athens, where R.E.M. was formed. He is widely acknowledged as the primary composer behind many of the band's musical compositions.
