Mike Piazza, born September 4, 1968, is an American former professional baseball catcher who played 16 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1992 to 2007. He is widely recognized for his time with the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers, but also had brief stints with the Florida Marlins, San Diego Padres, and Oakland Athletics. Piazza was a 12-time All-Star and a 10-time Silver Slugger Award winner at catcher. He holds the record for the most home runs hit by a catcher, with 396 out of his total of 427. Currently, Piazza serves as the manager of the Italian national baseball team.
