Mod Sun

Derek Ryan Smith, professionally known as Mod Sun or MODSUN, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and drummer. Born on March 10, 1987, in Bloomington, Minnesota, Smith began his musical career as a drummer in various bands before embarking on a solo rap career in 2009. He has released five solo studio albums, three EPs, and six mixtapes, showcasing his versatility and talent. Smith is also a member of the alternative hip hop duo Hotel Motel. In 2023, he released his fifth studio album, 'God Save the Teen,' which saw a stylistic shift back to pop punk. Mod Sun continues to make a significant impact on the music industry with his unique blend of genres and captivating performances.
