Mo'Nique, born Monique Angela Hicks on December 11, 1967, is an American stand-up comedian and actress. She gained recognition as a member of The Queens of Comedy and received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Comedy Album in 2002. Mo'Nique made her transition into mainstream film and television with a starring role as Nicole 'Nikki' Parker in The Parkers (1999–2004). She also appeared in films such as Phat Girlz (2006) and Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins (2008). In 2009, Mo'Nique delivered a critically acclaimed performance in the film Precious, earning her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, among other awards.
