Omari was born in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up on the West Side. His notable television credits include Tariq in the TV drama series Empire, Chicago Fire, Prison Break, Homeland, Malcolm & Eddie, Early Edition, NCIS, The Beast, P-Valley, and 24. In film, he has appeared in 21 Bridges, Gun Hill, Half Past Dead 2, Kubuku Rides, and Momentum. Omari has also directed films such as Good Intentions, (Mis) Leading Man, and Mission Mom: Possible, as well as writing and producing the short film The Male Groupie.
