Myra Lucretia Taylor, born on July 9, 1960, is an American actress and singer. She gained recognition for her portrayal of Gran Georgeanna in the Broadway musical Tina (2019), earning a Tony Awards nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. Taylor hails from Fort Motte, South Carolina, and made her Broadway debut in 1988 in A Streetcar Named Desire. Her screen debut came that same year in the comedy film Crossing Delancey. Throughout her career, she has appeared in various films including The Paper (1994), Everyone Says I Love You (1996), and Music of the Heart (1999). Taylor has also made numerous television appearances in shows such as Law & Order, Girls, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Hunters, and Atlanta. Her talent and versatility have earned her nominations for Drama Desk Awards, Outer Critics Circle Awards, and Lucille Lortel Awards.
