Nancy Walker (born Anna Myrtle Swoyer; May 10, 1922 – March 25, 1992) was an American actress and comedian known for her work in stage, screen, and television. She also directed films and television shows, including The Mary Tyler Moore Show, where she made guest appearances. Walker is best remembered for her roles as Mildred on McMillan & Wife and Ida Morgenstern on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spinoff Rhoda. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1922, Walker had a five-decade-long career. She was the elder daughter of Dewey Barto and Myrtle Flemming Lawler, and she stood at 4'11" (1.50 m) tall.
