Nastia Liukin

Anastasia 'Nastia' Valeryevna Liukin is a Russian-born American former artistic gymnast. Born on October 30, 1989, Liukin achieved great success in her gymnastics career. She became the 2008 Olympic all-around champion, winning five Olympic medals in total. Liukin also excelled in the World Championships, winning the balance beam title in 2005 and 2007, as well as the uneven bars title in 2005. She is a four-time all-around U.S. national champion, winning twice as a junior and twice as a senior. Liukin holds the record alongside Shannon Miller for the third-highest tally of World Championship medals among U.S. gymnasts. Although she attempted a comeback in 2011, Nastia Liukin retired from gymnastics on July 2, 2012.
