Canerday gained recognition for her role as the wife of a small town sheriff in the 1991 film 'One False Move.' She is best known for her portrayals of harried mothers in movies like 'Sling Blade' and 'October Sky.' Canerday was also nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Cast in a Motion Picture for her role in 'Sling Blade.' In addition to her acting career, she has served as a judge for the George Lindsey/UNA Film Festival in 2006 and has appeared in a national radio commercial in 2007.
