Natalie Maria Cole (February 6, 1950 – December 31, 2015) was an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She rose to prominence in the mid-1970s with her debut album Inseparable (1975) and the hit single 'This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)'. Cole became the first African-American recipient of the Grammy Award for Best New Artist and the first R&B act to win the award. She continued to release albums throughout her career, transitioning from R&B to pop music in the late 1980s. Her cover of Bruce Springsteen's 'Pink Cadillac' and the album Unforgettable... with Love, featuring traditional pop songs by her father, brought her major success in the 1990s.
