Natalie Schafer

Natalie Schafer (November 5, 1900 – April 10, 1991) was an American actress known for her role as Lovey Howell on the sitcom Gilligan's Island (1964–1967). Born in Red Bank, New Jersey, Schafer began her career on Broadway, appearing in 17 plays between 1927 and 1959. She then moved to Los Angeles in 1941 to work in films. Schafer often played supporting roles and appeared in both short-run and long-run plays. She also had appearances in stock and regional productions. Schafer's most notable role was Lovey Howell, the wealthy socialite on Gilligan's Island. She passed away on April 10, 1991.
