Nate Query Biography
Nate Query (born September 5, 1973) is an American musician known for his role as the bassist in the indie rock band The Decemberists. Throughout his career, Query has showcased his talents on various instruments including electric bass, upright bass, banjo, and cello. He has made notable appearances on albums by artists such as Laura Gibson, Rebecca Gates, the Minus 5, and Laura Veirs. Additionally, he has contributed to Michael Zapruder's record. Prior to his time with The Decemberists, Query was part of bands like Calobo and Everyday Dirt. Currently, he is involved in the acoustic band Black Prairie alongside several other Portland artists. Born in Bellevue, Washington, he attended West Sylvan Middle School and Lincoln High School in Portland, Oregon. Married with two children, Query is also an avid home brewer and has a fondness for the Tao Te Ching as translated by Stephen Mitchell.
