Nathan Lane (born Joseph Lane; February 3, 1956) is an American actor known for his work on stage and screen for over 40 years. He has portrayed a wide range of characters, both comedic and dramatic. Lane has been honored with several prestigious awards, including three Tony Awards, six Drama Desk Awards, an Olivier Award, and three Emmy Awards. In 2006, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and in 2008, he was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame. Lane's professional theatre debut was in 1978, and he has since established a fruitful collaboration with playwright Terrence McNally.
