Neil Ashton Biography
Neil John Ashton (born 15 January 1985) is an English manager and former footballer. He is currently the manager of Cefn Albion. Ashton primarily played as a left-back but occasionally acted as a midfielder. He began his career with Tranmere Rovers as a youth player in 2001, turning professional in 2003. Although he made just one league appearance for Tranmere, Ashton gained more playing time during a loan spell with Shrewsbury Town in the 2004-05 season, making 24 appearances. Following that, he joined Shrewsbury permanently, making over 130 appearances in all competitions before moving on to Macclesfield Town. In January 2008, Ashton joined Macclesfield Town on loan for the rest of the 2007-2008 season.
