Neil Sedaka is an American singer, songwriter, and pianist. Born on March 13, 1939, he started his music career in 1957 and has sold millions of records worldwide. Sedaka is known for his extensive songwriting catalog, having written or co-written over 500 songs for himself and other artists. He collaborated mainly with lyricists Howard 'Howie' Greenfield and Phil Cody. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, Sedaka enjoyed a string of hit singles, including 'Oh! Carol,' 'Calendar Girl,' 'Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen,' and 'Breaking Up Is Hard to Do.' Although his popularity declined in the mid-1960s, he made a successful comeback in the mid-1970s with hits like 'Laughter in the Rain' and 'Bad Blood.' Sedaka's songwriting talent also led to him penning hits for other artists such as Connie Francis, Tony Christie, and Captain & Tennille.
