Nellie McKay Biography
Nellie McKay is a singer, songwriter, and actress. She was born on April 13, 1982, in London to an English father and an American mother. McKay made her Broadway debut in The Threepenny Opera in 2006. She holds dual citizenship and has lived in various places, including Harlem, New York, Olympia, Washington, and Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania. McKay studied jazz voice at the Manhattan School of Music, but did not graduate. She gained attention from record labels with her performances at New York City music venues like the Sidewalk Cafe and Joe's Pub. McKay's debut album, Get Away from Me, was released in February 2004 and was produced by Geoff Emerick, known for his work with the Beatles.
