Nelson Ascencio Biography
Nelson Ascencio (born August 30, 1964) is a Cuban-American actor and comedian known for his work on MADtv and The Hunger Games film series. Born in Guayos, Cuba, Ascencio fled his homeland at a young age and settled in Tarrytown, NY. He began acting in his early teens, participating in local theater and school productions. Ascencio further honed his acting skills at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and the HB Studios after high school. He also pursued comedy, performing stand-up in Manhattan and studying at the Groundlings Theatre in Los Angeles. Ascencio has written, performed, and produced his own sketch shows with Unsafe Sketch and has made appearances on The Larry Sanders Show.
