Nestor Paiva

Nestor Paiva (June 30, 1905 - September 9, 1966) was an American actor of Portuguese descent. He appeared in over 400 motion pictures, playing various roles ranging from extras to significant supporting characters. In addition, he made appearances in several television series during the 1950s and early 1960s. One of his notable screen roles was as the innkeeper Teo Gonzales in Walt Disney's Spanish Western series Zorro, as well as its theatrical release The Sign of Zorro (1958). Paiva also portrayed the boat captain Lucas in the horror film Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) and its sequel Revenge of the Creature (1955). Born in California, Paiva was the tenth of twelve children to Portuguese immigrants from the Azores.
