Ney Matogrosso, born Ney de Souza Pereira on August 1, 1941, is a Brazilian singer known for his distinct countertenor voice. He gained recognition as a member of the glam rock group Secos & Molhados in the 1970s, selling 1 million records and becoming a phenomenon. Matogrosso's career took off with his unique vocal range and captivating stage presence. Prior to his musical success, he enlisted in the Brazilian Air Force at 17 and later moved to Rio de Janeiro, where he sold arts and crafts to make a living. With his artistic name, Ney Matogrosso, he continues to be a prominent figure in the Brazilian music scene.
