Niamh Cusack (born 20 October 1959) is an Irish actress known for her extensive work in both stage and screen. Born into a family deeply rooted in the performing arts, Cusack's passion for acting developed at a young age. She has had the opportunity to work with esteemed theatre companies such as the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal National Theatre, showcasing her talent in numerous major stage productions since the 1980s. Cusack gained widespread recognition for her role as Dr. Kate Rowan in the popular UK series Heartbeat (1992–1995), establishing herself as a household name. In addition to her television work, she has lent her voice to various radio productions and has appeared in films such as In Love with Alma Cogan (2011). Cusack's family connections to the industry include her father, actor Cyril Cusack, and siblings Sinéad Cusack and Sorcha Cusack. Her husband is fellow actor Finbar Ly.
