Nick Diaz, born on August 2, 1983, is a retired American professional mixed martial artist known for his expertise in the middleweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Throughout his career, Diaz held titles in various organizations including Strikeforce, WEC, and IFC as a welterweight champion. He competed in prominent events such as PRIDE, EliteXC, DREAM, and Shooto. Hailing from Stockton, California, Diaz, of Mexican and Anglo heritage, had a significant influence on the sport of MMA, along with his younger brother Nate Diaz. Diaz began his training in karate, aikido, and wrestling during his teenage years. He briefly attended Tokay High School in Lodi, California, and was a member of the swim team during his freshman year.
