Nicole Maines

Nicole Maines is an American actress, writer, and transgender rights activist. She gained recognition as the anonymous plaintiff in the landmark Maine Supreme Judicial Court case Doe v. Regional School Unit 26, which established the rights of transgender students to access bathrooms consistent with their gender identity. Maines made history as the first transgender superhero on television, portraying the character Nia Nal on The CW's Supergirl from 2018 to 2021. Currently, she can be seen in the recurring role of Lisa in the second season of the television series Yellowjackets. Maines, along with her twin brother Jonas, was adopted at birth by Kelly and Wayne Maines in 1997.
