Nigel Terry (15 August 1945 – 30 April 2015) was an English stage, film, and television actor known for his historical and period roles. He portrayed Prince John in Anthony Harvey's film The Lion in Winter (1968) and King Arthur in John Boorman's Excalibur (1981). Born in Bristol, Terry grew up in Truro, Cornwall, where he attended Truro School. He developed a passion for acting and honed his skills in drawing and painting. Encouraged by his parents, Terry joined the National Youth Theatre and later attended London's Central School of Speech and Drama. In addition to his stage work, he appeared in various films and TV shows throughout his career.
