Nikki Haley

Nimarata Nikki Haley, born on January 20, 1972, is an American politician and diplomat. She served as the 116th governor of South Carolina from 2011 to 2017 and as the 29th United States ambassador to the United Nations from January 2017 to December 2018. Haley, a member of the Republican Party, is recognized as the first Indian American to serve in a presidential cabinet. Originally from Bamberg, South Carolina, she holds an accounting degree from Clemson University. Before entering politics, Haley worked in her family's clothing business and served as treasurer and president of the National Association of Women Business Owners. Haley was the first female governor of South Carolina and the second governor of Indian descent.
