Nipsey Hussle, born Ermias Joseph Asghedom on August 15, 1985, was an American rapper, entrepreneur, and activist. He emerged from the West Coast hip hop scene in the mid-2000s and gained recognition for his mixtapes such as Slauson Boy Volume 1, Bullets Ain't Got No Name series, The Marathon, The Marathon Continues, and Crenshaw. His debut studio album, Victory Lap, was released in 2018 and received critical acclaim, earning him a nomination for Best Rap Album at the 61st Grammy Awards. Hussle's contributions to the industry were recognized posthumously, as he was awarded two Grammy Awards for the songs 'Racks in the Middle' and 'Higher' at the 62nd Grammy Awards in 2020.
