Noah Andrew Ringer (born November 18, 1996) is an American martial artist and former child actor. He is known for his role as Aang in the 2010 film The Last Airbender and as Emmett in Cowboys & Aliens. Ringer was born in Dallas, Texas and began training in martial arts at ATA Martial Arts in Carrollton, Texas, when he was ten years old. He quickly showed promise and started competing in tournaments. In December 2008, at the age of twelve, Ringer earned his first-degree black belt. Ringer's shaved head and resemblance to the character Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender earned him the nickname 'Avatar' among his fellow students.
