Known as 'the father of modern linguistics,' Chomsky has made significant contributions to the field of linguistics, as well as analytic philosophy and cognitive science. He currently holds the position of laureate professor of linguistics at the University of Arizona and is an institute professor emeritus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Chomsky has authored over 150 books on various subjects, including linguistics, war, and politics, making him one of the most cited living authors. He aligns ideologically with anarcho-syndicalism and libertarian socialism. Chomsky was born to Ashkenazi Jewish immigrants in Philadelphia and developed an early interest in anarchism during his studies in New York City and the University of Pennsylvania.
