Anthony Nomar Garciaparra (born July 23, 1973) is an American former Major League Baseball player and current SportsNet LA analyst. He played parts of nine seasons as an All-Star shortstop for the Boston Red Sox and later played for the Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Oakland Athletics. Garciaparra is known for hitting two grand slams during a single game, making him one of 13 players in Major League history to achieve this feat, and the only one to do it at his home stadium. Throughout his career, Garciaparra was a six-time All-Star, the American League Rookie of the Year in 1997, and a Silver Slugger Award winner. He is also recognized for his high batting average, with a lifetime .313 average and the highest post-war era single-season average for a right-handed batter at .372 in 2000.
