Norm Abram
Norm Abram (born 1950) is an American carpenter, writer, and television host. He is best known for his work on the PBS television programs This Old House and The New Yankee Workshop. Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, Abram was raised in Milford, Massachusetts. His father, a carpenter, taught him many practical skills, and he began working on client sites at the age of 9. Abram studied mechanical engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst but found the courses uninteresting and switched to business administration. Realizing his passion for practical work, he left UMass just short of finishing a degree. Abram has since become a master carpenter, published several books, and contributed to the field through his TV appearances.
