Óscar Isaac Hernández Estrada, born on March 9, 1979, is an American actor known for his versatility. He has been recognized for breaking stereotypes about Latino characters in Hollywood. Isaac has received numerous accolades, including a Golden Globe Award and a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award. In 2017, Vanity Fair named him the best actor of his generation, and The New York Times listed him as one of the 25 greatest actors of the 21st century in 2020. Isaac was born in Guatemala and moved to the US as an infant. He started his career in punk bands and theater before making his film debut in a minor role. Graduating from the Juilliard School, he began gaining recognition as a character actor in the 2000s. His breakthrough role was Joseph in the biblical drama film The Nativity Story (2006), and he received an AACTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his portrayal of political leader José Ramos-Horta in the Australian film.
