Patrick Macnee Biography
Patrick Macnee (6 February 1922 – 25 June 2015) was an English actor best known for his role as secret agent John Steed in the television series The Avengers (1961–1969). He started his career as the assistant to David Keel in the first series of The Avengers and became the lead when Keel left. Macnee reprised the role in The New Avengers (1976–1977). Born in London, he served in the Royal Navy during World War II before beginning his acting career in Canadian television. Macnee appeared in numerous television series, including The Twilight Zone, Columbo, Magnum, P.I., Hart to Hart, Murder, She Wrote, The Love Boat, and Frasier. He also made a cameo appearance in Oasis's music video for "Don't Look Back in Anger" (1996).
