Sir Patrick Alfred Caldwell-Moore (4 March 1923 – 9 December 2012) was a British amateur astronomer, writer, researcher, radio commentator, and television presenter. He joined the British Astronomical Association at the age of eleven and served in the Royal Air Force during World War II. Moore published his first book on lunar observation in 1953 and went on to write over seventy astronomy books. He gained recognition for his expertise in Moon observation and for creating the Caldwell catalogue. Moore hosted BBC's The Sky at Night, the world's longest-running television series, from 1957 until his death. He was also the co-founder and president of the Society for Popular Astronomy.
