Patrick Wayne Swayze (August 18, 1952 – September 14, 2009) was an American actor, dancer, and singer-songwriter. He was known for his distinctive lead roles in romantic, tough, and comedic characters in films and TV shows. Swayze received three nominations for the Golden Globe Award for Best Lead Actor in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical, including his roles in Dirty Dancing (1987), Ghost (1990), and To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar (1995). He also appeared in action films like Road House (1989) and Point Break (1991). Swayze co-wrote and recorded the popular song 'She's Like the Wind' and was awarded the Rolex Dance Award posthumously in 2012. He passed away from pancreatic cancer at the age of 57.
