Patty Smyth (born June 26, 1957) is an American singer and songwriter. She gained national attention as the lead vocalist of the rock band Scandal before embarking on a successful solo career. Known for her distinctive voice and new wave image, Smyth's music received extensive airplay on cable music video channels like MTV. Her debut solo album, Never Enough, was well-received and produced two Top 100 hits. In the early 1990s, she achieved further success with the hit single 'Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough,' a duet with Don Henley. Smyth's talents also extend to songwriting, having co-written and performed the song 'Look What Love Has Done' for the film Junior, earning her a Grammy Award and Academy Award nomination. Smyth married retired tennis player John McEnroe in 1997.
