Paul Benedict Biography
Paul Benedict (September 17, 1938 – December 1, 2008) was an American actor known for his appearances in television and films. He gained recognition for his roles as The Number Painter on Sesame Street and as the English neighbor Harry Bentley on The Jeffersons. Born in Silver City, New Mexico, Benedict grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from Boston College High School and Suffolk University. He served in the United States Marine Corps. Benedict's distinctive features, including his oversized jaw and large nose, were partially attributed to acromegaly. He worked with Norman Lear on various projects, including the film Cold Turkey. Benedict made numerous contributions to the entertainment industry throughout his career.
