Paul D'Amato Biography
Paul 'Skinny' D'Amato (December 1, 1908 – June 5, 1984) was an American personality known as 'Mr. Atlantic City'. He gained fame as the owner of the 500 Club, a popular venue in Atlantic City, New Jersey, from the 1940s until it burned down in 1973. Born to Italian American parents in Atlantic City, D'Amato opened a successful cigar store at the age of 15 to support his seven siblings after the death of one or both of their parents. He later expanded his business ventures by establishing a restaurant and gambling hall called 'Luigi's' and working with influential figures like Enoch 'Nucky' Johnson, Sam Giancana, and Carlos Marcello.
