Paul Slack Biography
Paul Alexander Slack FBA (born 23 January 1943) is a British historian and former principal of Linacre College, Oxford. He is also a former pro-vice-chancellor of the University of Oxford and professor of early modern social history at the university. Slack was educated at Bradford Grammar School and the University of Oxford, where he obtained his BA and DPhil. He served as a fellow of Exeter College, Oxford, from 1973 to 1996. In addition, he held positions such as junior proctor and chairman of the General Board. Slack retired from Linacre College in September 2010 and was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 1990.
