Paxton Whitehead (17 October 1937 – 16 June 2023) was an English actor, theatre director, and playwright. He gained recognition for his stage performances, including a Tony Award and a Drama Desk Award nomination for his role in the 1980 revival of Camelot. With a successful career in both theater and film, Whitehead became well-known to U.S. television audiences for his guest appearances on popular shows such as The West Wing, Frasier, Caroline in the City, Ellen, 3rd Rock from the Sun, The Drew Carey Show, Mad About You, and Friends. Born in East Malling and Larkfield, Kent, Whitehead trained at London's Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art.
